Wholesome Girlies is an education and community brand. We are not a clinic, we are not your doctor, and we will never pretend to be. This page sets out exactly where our line is.

If this is an emergency, stop reading. Heavy bleeding, a fever, severe headache, chest pain, difficulty breathing, fainting, a seizure, reduced or absent baby movements, or any thought of harming yourself or your baby needs medical help now, not a website. Go to your nearest hospital or call your clinic.

What we do

We explain how things work, in plain language: cycles, conception, pregnancy, recovery, feeding, a baby's first years.
We give you tools that do a calculation or organise a decision, like working out a fertile window or a due date.
We tell you what questions to ask at an appointment, so you get more out of the fifteen minutes you have.
We tell you plainly when something needs a professional, and we would rather send you to care than keep you on a page.

What we do not do

We do not diagnose. No page here will tell you what is wrong with you.
We do not treat. We do not prescribe, recommend doses, or suggest you take or stop taking anything.
We do not replace your antenatal or postnatal care. Our tools are a supplement to your appointments, never a substitute for them.
We do not reassure you out of getting seen. If a symptom could be serious, we say go, even when it is probably nothing.

How our health pages are reviewed

Any page that makes a claim about your body is checked by a named clinician before it publishes. Their name, their qualification and the date of review appear in the byline, and the sources behind the claims are listed at the foot of the page.

Pages that carry no reviewer name make no medical claim. They cover culture, planning, relationships or practical organisation, and where they touch on health at all they link you to a page that has been reviewed.

Our tools

Our calculators and trackers do arithmetic and organise information. A due date calculator applies a standard formula to the date you give it. A fertile window calculator does the same. They do not know anything about your body that you have not typed in, they cannot detect a problem, and a result from one of them is never a reason to delay seeing someone.

We do not publish symptom checkers or risk scorers. Tools that hint at a diagnosis are the ones most likely to do harm, and we have chosen not to build them.

If you are outside Nigeria

We write primarily for African women in Nigeria and in the diaspora, and where guidance differs by country we say which country we mean. Immunisation schedules, screening timetables and what is available over the counter all vary. Your local service is always the authority for you, not us.
