Privacy policy

Last updated 15 September 2026. Written in plain language.

The short version. Our tools run in your browser, and what you type into them stays on your own device. We only get personal details you choose to give us, like your email for the newsletter or your name when you join a program. We use trusted services to run the site (payments, email, analytics, and advertising). We never sell your data. You can ask us to show, correct, or delete what we hold at any time.

Who we are

Wholesome Girlies is a women's health platform for African women, at home and in the diaspora. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" mean Wholesome Girlies, the brand of Wholesome Girlies Media Limited (RC 9724618), a company registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide how and why it is used.

What we collect

Information you give us

Your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter or sign up for a program.
Your name and contact details when you sign up for a paid program or write to us.
Anything you type in a message to us, in a form, or in our community space.
Your details when you start to buy a program. Before we send you to the payment page, we ask for your name and email (and your phone if you choose to share it, so it is optional). If you enter them but do not finish, we keep them so we can check in (like a reminder) and make the process smoother. They are saved in a Google Sheet and may be added to our email tool (Brevo). You can opt out of those emails any time.

Information collected automatically

Basic usage data such as the pages you visit, the tools you open, the device and browser you use, your rough location (country or city, not your exact address), and how you found us.
Your approximate country, looked up from your internet address when you open a program page, so we can show prices in the right currency.
This is collected through the analytics, advertising, and location tools described under Cookies and tracking.

Payment information

When you buy a program, payment is handled by our payment provider, Selar. Your card or bank details go to them, not to us. We receive a confirmation that you paid and the details you chose to share, such as your name and email.

Your tool data stays with you

Our calculators, trackers, and checklists are built to run inside your browser. When a tool remembers your entries, for example your last period date or a checklist you ticked, it saves that only on your own device, using your browser's local storage. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, those entries are gone. Please treat any sensitive health details you enter as private to your device.

Whether tools remember your entries is your choice, under Remember on this device in Privacy choices. In the EU, the UK, Switzerland, and Canada it is off until you turn it on, except on the app page and every page you open from the app after adding it to your phone's home screen. On those pages, and everywhere else in the world, it is on unless you turn it off. When it is off, the tools still work, but your entries are cleared when you leave the page.

Why we use your information

To send you what you asked for, such as the newsletter or a program you joined.
To run and improve the site, understand what is helpful, and decide what to build next.
To keep the site safe and prevent misuse.
To respond when you contact us.
To show and measure our ads, so we reach more women who need this, and to understand which ones work. We never send what you type into our tools to advertisers.
To meet our legal and tax obligations.

Our legal basis

For readers in Europe and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) asks us to name a legal basis for using your data. Ours are:

Your consent, for the newsletter, which you give when you subscribe and can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
Performing a contract, when you buy a program and we deliver it.
Your consent, for the analytics and advertising tools described under Cookies and tracking, and for remembering your tool entries on this device where this is off by default. These do not run until you say yes, and you can change your choice at any time in Privacy choices.
Our legitimate interests, in running and securing a service that people find useful, and in remembering your entries by default on the app page and every page you open from the app after adding it to your phone's home screen. Saving your own entries on your own phone is what the app is for. You can turn this off at any time in Privacy choices.
Legal obligation, when the law requires us to keep or share certain records.

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. We use them, and similar tools, to keep the site working and to understand how it is used. These are the tools we use:

Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, to understand how pages and tools are used. They tell us about visits, not who you are.
Microsoft Clarity, to see heatmaps and recordings of clicks and scrolling so we can fix what makes the site hard to use. Text you type is hidden from these recordings.
Meta Pixel, to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
TikTok Pixel, to measure our ads on TikTok.
Location lookup (geojs.io and ipwho.is), on program pages only, to show prices in the right currency.

When you start to buy a program. When you enter your details and continue to payment, our site tells Meta and TikTok that a sign-up happened and which program it was for. We also share your email address and phone number with TikTok so it can match the sign-up to a TikTok account.

On the payment page. Our payment provider, Selar, uses Meta's and TikTok's tools on its checkout pages. Selar tells them when you view a program, start checkout, or complete a purchase, and sends those details from its own servers, including your name, email address, and internet address, so our ads can be measured.

Your choices. Visitors in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, and Canada see a short notice on their first visit, except on the app page and every page they open from the app after adding it to their phone's home screen, where no notice opens on its own. In those places, analytics and advertising stay off until visitors turn them on. In the United States, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity run by default, and Meta and TikTok only run if you accept. Everywhere else, these tools run by default. Wherever you are, you can change what runs at any time with Privacy choices at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no to advertising. We work out which of these applies from your device's time zone, and we save your choice in a small cookie in your browser for 6 months.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, and you can manage ad tracking in your account settings on Google, Meta, and TikTok. Blocking cookies won't stop our tools working, but clearing your browser data removes any entries they saved. We may add or remove tools over time and will keep this list current.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the trusted services that help us run Wholesome Girlies, and only as much as they need:

Selar, to take payments for programs. Selar also shares purchase details with Meta and TikTok, as described above.
Brevo, our email platform, to send the newsletter and program emails.
Google, for analytics, and for the Google Sheet where details from started checkouts are stored.
Zapier, which moves your details between Selar, that sheet, and Brevo.
Meta and TikTok, to measure our ads, as described above.
Microsoft, for Clarity, as described above.
Our hosting and technical providers (GitHub and Cloudflare, plus the location lookup services above), to keep the site online, secure, and showing the right prices.

If you join our community, it runs on Telegram, and Telegram's own privacy policy applies to what you share there.

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or if the business is ever transferred to new owners. In that case we would tell you first.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law requires. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove it from our active systems, keeping only what we must for legal or accounting reasons.

Your rights

Whether you are covered by the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) or the GDPR, you have the right to:

Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy.
Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
Ask us to delete your data.
Object to or restrict how we use it.
Withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing.
Ask us to move your data to another service where that applies.
Complain to a data protection authority. In Nigeria that is the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). In Europe it is your local authority.

Where your data is handled

Wholesome Girlies serves women in Nigeria and around the world, and some of the services we use store or process data outside your country, including outside Nigeria and the European Union. When that happens, we take steps to make sure your data stays protected to the standard the law expects.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe, including secure connections (HTTPS) and trusted providers. No system online is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute safety, but we work to protect your information and to act quickly if anything goes wrong.

Children

Wholesome Girlies is meant for adult women. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business grows or the law changes. When we make an important change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, tell you directly.
