A Gentle Mind Check-in
A quiet, private space to notice how you are really doing, not only how the baby is. This is not a test and there is no score. It never tells you what is wrong with you. It just helps you notice, and always points you to real help when you need it.
Sit with these gently. There are no right answers.
- Can I feel small moments of joy or calm?
- Am I able to sleep when I get the chance, or am I lying awake worried?
- Do I feel connected to my baby and the people around me, or cut off?
- Can I get through the day, most days?
- Are the heavy feelings slowly easing, or getting heavier?

This is not a test, and there is no score. But if a few of these feel true for you, or one of them feels heavy, or the hard feelings have lasted more than two weeks, take that as your gentle sign to reach out. That is strength, not failure.
Talk to your doctor or a counsellor. In Nigeria you can call the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative on 0809 111 6264. If you ever have thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, treat it as an emergency and get help immediately. You matter here, not only as this baby's mother.
